글로벌서비스센터에서는 아래와 같이 외국인 신(편)입생들이 학교생활에 잘 적응할 수 있도록 길잡이가 되어줄 2025학년도 2학기 멘토 장학생을 모집합니다.

1. 프로그램 소개 및 주요 활동 내용

  가. 프로그램 소개

1) 멘토 1명이 다수의 정규 학부(4년 정규학생) 외국인 신(편)입생 그룹을 맡아, 1학기 동안 학업/생활 측면에서 도움을 제공

2) 대부분의 멘티는 한국어와 영어 중 최소 하나의 언어 구사가 가능

3) 멘토와 멘티는 최대한 같은 전공끼리 그룹 구성. 해당 전공의 멘토 부재 시 동일 단과대학 혹은 유사 전공 학생들로 구성

※ 단, 위의 절차를 거친 후에도 관련 전공의 멘토 부재 시 타 전공의 멘토 배정할 수 있음

  나. 주요활동 내용

1) 학업 지원: 학기 별 수강과목, 교내 활동 등 계획 시 조언 및 도움 제공, 강의 내용을 이해할 수 있도록 보충 설명, 전공 기초 교육 제공, 전공/교양 과목 시험 준비를 위한 조언 제공, 한국어 시험(TOPIK) 준비를 위한 도움 제공 등

2) 생활 지원: 학사 행정, (학과별)졸업요건, 포털 아이디 생성, 수강신청 방법, LMS 활용법, 1학년 세미나, Academic English, 교양 필수 등 신입생에게 필수적인 학교생활 정보 제공, 기타 교내 제공 서비스 활용 방법(도서관, 학생상담센터, 원스탑서비스 센터 등) 안내, 학기 중 정기적 상담을 통해 학업 및 생활과 관련한 개별적 필요나 어려움을 파악하고 해소방안 함께 모색

3) 진로 지도: 멘티가 차후 한국에서 취업 희망 시 (전공과 관련된) 다양한 진로 소개, 관련 교내/외 프로그램 소개, 소속 단과대학/학과 프로그램 소개 등 필요 정보 제공

2. 모집 대상 (지원 자격)

  가. 본교 서울캠퍼스 정규 4개 학기 이상 재학 중인 학부생 또는 재학 중인 대학원생 

      (2025학년도 2학기 휴학생, 수료생, 초과학기생 지원 불가)

  나. 동일 전공의 학부생과 대학원생 중 학부생 우대 

  다. (직전학기 기준) 평점평균 2.0 이상

  라. (직전학기 기준) 이수학점 12 학점 이상

  마. 내국인 및 외국인 모두 지원 가능

  바. (필수) 한국어 능통자

  사. 영어 및 중국어 구사 가능자 우대

  아. 자유전공학부 입학자 우대 

  자. 오프라인(대면) 활동에 집중할 수 있는 지원자 우대

  차. 외국인에 대한 열린 마음으로 좋은 친구이자 선배가 되어주실 분 

3. 활동 기간: 1개 학기, 2025년 8월 중 ~ 12월 19일 (금)

  가. 매주 1회 멘토 온라인 교육 세미나 참여 (활동 시간 인정)

  나. 매월 1회 멘토 온라인 간담회 참여 (활동 시간 인정)

  ※ 8월 21일(목) 외국인 신편입생 수강신청 지원 필수 참석 (미참석시 활동불가) 

  ※ 8월 27일(수) 외국인 신편입생 오리엔테이션 필수 참석 (미참석시 활동불가) 

    (자세한 일정 및 시간은 추후 확정 시 재공지 예정) 

4. 활동 혜택

가. 장학금 지급: 학기 종료 후, 아래의 평가 기준에 따라 멘토에게 250만 원(A), 220만 원(B), 180만 원(C), 150만 원(D), 120만 원(E) 차등 지급. 단, 최소 활동 기준 미충족 시 장학금 지급 불가

   ※ 최소 활동 기준(E): 학기 중 평균 활동 시간(주차별) 7시간 이상, 학기 말 멘티 만족도 70% 이상

    ※ 지급시기 : 학기 말 멘토링 프로그램 종료 후, 학생 본인 계좌로 지급(등록금 공제 아님)

    ※ 타 장학금과 중복 수혜 가능하나, 지원자가 기존에 수령하는 장학금이 있다면 해당 재단에 이중 지원 가능 여부를 직접 확인하기를 권장합니다.

나. 국제처장 명의의 활동 증명서 발급

라. 차후 교환학생 지원시 가산점 부여

※ 단, 멘토링 활동을 정상적으로 마치지 못하는 경우는 위의 혜택들이 적용되지 않음.

5. 신청 안내

  가. 1차: 서류 심사

The Global Services Center is recruiting mentor scholarship students for the Fall 2025 semester to help newly incoming international students adapt to KU life.

1. Program Overview and Main Activities

A. Program Overview 

- A mentor is responsible for a group of 20 freshmen (max.) and provides regular and continuous academic supports for one year.

- Most of the freshmen mentees are able to speak Korean and/or English.

- Mentors and mentees will be grouped primarily by the same major. In the absence of a mentor for a specific major, students from the same college or a related field will be grouped instead.
※Note: If no mentor is available within the relevant major, a mentor from a different major may be assigned after the above procedure has been followed.

B. Main Activities

- Individual study guidance: Preparing a learning plan including course requirements and in-school activities per semester, and providing feedback on academic performance to improve the freshmen’s learning ability

- Basic study training for major courses: Providing supplementary explanations and practical advice for effective preparation for examinations, assisting to understand course content, and running study groups

- Sharing information and handling complaint: Providing information for course requirement, course works and on- and off-campus programs, and consultation for identifying difficulties related to campus life and finding solutions

2. Eligibility

A. Undergraduates of Seoul campus who are in the third grade (Year 3) or higher or Graduate students who are attending regular semesters at the Seoul campus (Students on a leave of absence or completed students cannot apply.)

B. Must be fluent in Korean. ​(Recommend to review this notice in Korean Version for your better understanding in guidance.)

C. (As of the previous semester) GPA 2.0 or higher

D. (As of the previous semester) 12 Credits or more

E. Koreans and Foreigners

F. Able to speak English and/or Chinese

G. Who can be and is willing to be a good mentor for the freshmen

H. Who can participate in offline consultation/activity is preferred

I. Who has experiences in School of Interdisciplinary Studies or in Global Open Major Division is preferred 

3. The duration of the activity

Duration: 1 semester (Mid-August~December 19th 2025) 

※ Regular activity: 1 Online Seminar per Week, 1 Offline Meeting per Month

※ The following two dates are mandatory activities. Failure to attend will result in immediate termination of participation.

- August 21st (Thu): Freshmen course registration assistance

- August 27th (Wed): International freshman orientation

(Detailed schedule and timing will be announced at a later date once confirmed.)

4. Benefits

A. Scholarship: After the semester ends, scholarship will be granted based on the assessment criteria.
Note: scholarships will not be awarded if the minimum requirements are not met.

※ Minimum Requirements (E) 1,200,000 KRW: Minimum 7 hours of weekly participation (Average) + 70% or Higher Rating from Mentees Satistaction Assessment.

※ Scholarship will be paid to the student’s own account at the end of the semester when the program ends.

※ Students may receive multiple scholarships; however, recipients of Scholarship from Institution other than Korea University should check with the foundation advisor.

5. How to apply

A. First step: Document screening

1) Application period: until Jul. 20th, (Sun) by 11:59 PM

2) Required documents: Self-introduction and the Collection of Personal Information Utilization Agreement in Korean (The attached form) 

3) Application submission: submit application documents to igementor@korea.ac.kr

- The forms must be signed by handwriting and scanned. (Typed signature is not acceptible)

- E-mail & File Title: “멘토 장학생 지원_Applicant’s name” (Otherwise, the application will not be accepted.)

- The required documents must be submitted by the deadline. Late submissions will be automatically disqualified.

B. Second step: Interview (Only those who pass the document screening will be notified individually for interview schedule.)

1) Interview date: Jul. 22th, 2025 (Tue) to Jul. 25th, 2025 (Fri)
*The interview will be scheduled among the preferred dates that the applicant indicates in the application.
